What a product image CSV validator catches
A spreadsheet may open correctly and still contain records that create extra work during an import. A missing handle can break product mapping. An empty filename makes an image difficult to track. Repeated source URLs may be intentional, but they may also reveal copied rows. Weak alt text and undersized images often remain hidden until a storefront review.
CatalogImage QA groups these checks into one preflight report so catalog teams can resolve the most important errors first.
Prepare the file
Use one header row followed by one row per product image. The recommended columns are handle, filename, width, height, alt_text, image_src, and size_mb. Several common header aliases are recognized.
- Keep the original export as a backup.
- Remove unrelated customer or order data before uploading.
- Choose a minimum shortest-side value appropriate for your theme and product presentation.
- Run the audit and review errors, then warnings.
- Confirm each proposed change before using the output elsewhere.

Errors
Errors highlight missing core data such as a product handle, filename, or alt text. They indicate a row that probably needs attention before the broader workflow continues.
Warnings
Warnings identify potential quality or consistency issues, including naming conventions, duplicate URLs, long alt text, dimensions below the selected threshold, and files above the chosen size guideline.
Quality score
The score is a quick summary of detected issues, not a platform grade or performance guarantee. Use the detailed rows to make decisions.
Privacy and workflow boundaries
The free tool processes the CSV in the browser for the current session. It does not fetch, transform, or regenerate the linked images. Avoid including private customer information, credentials, or data that is not necessary for image quality control.
The validator is independent software. It does not replace current platform documentation or a test import into a safe environment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I paste CSV content instead of uploading a file?
Yes. Both workflows use the same checks.
Will the validator reject every duplicate URL?
No. Duplicate URLs are warnings because some stores deliberately reuse an asset. A person should decide whether each match is expected.
Can I use the result as an import file?
The paid export is designed as a clean review file. Confirm the required columns and format for your destination before importing it.
